Ready-to-use scrubs are easily available. You can make a scrub at home by mixing rice powder or ground almonds with curd. Dried and powdered lemon and orange peel or mint leaves can be added. Apply it on your face twice a week, rubbing the skin gently with small circular movements. Wash it off with water. Avoid applying the scrub on pimples, acne or rash.
To the henna powder, add 4 teaspoons each of lemon juice and coffee, 2 raw eggs and enough curd to mix it into a thick paste. It should have the consistency of toothpaste. Divide the hair into sections and apply the henna on both sides of a section, so that all the hair is covered with henna. Wrap the section around your head. Now repeat this with each section, till the hair is totally covered with the henna. Keep it on for at least one hour, before washing it off. There’s no need to shampoo your hair. You can wash the henna off with water. You can use shampoo the next day, if you like. If your hair is dry, add 2 teaspoons of hair oil to the henna paste.
Stretch marks usually fade with time but never completely because they form due to destruction of skin elasticity. Massage mustard or olive oil daily on the abdomen. Use wide circular strokes. Mix gram flour with curd and a little turmeric into a paste and apply it three times a week on the area. Wash it off after half an hour.
The patch may be due to hyperpigmentation. He should consult a dermatologist. He can also try home remedies. Apply a sunscreen with high SPF 20 minutes before going out in the sun. Wash your face twice a day, in the morning and night with a medicated soap. Then wipe it with an astringent lotion, using cotton wool. Mix a little rose water with sandalwood paste and apply it on your face. Wash it off after 15 minutes. Or, boil neem leaves over a low flame. Cool and strain the liquid. Make a paste of the leaves and apply it daily on your face. Wash it off after half an hour. Mix multani mitti with rose water into a paste and apply it on your face two or three times a week. Wash it off after it dries. Avoid creams and moisturisers. Use only oil-free products. Include fresh fruits, salads, sprouts and yoghurt in your daily diet. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily. Add the juice of a lemon to a glass of water and drink it first thing in the morning.
Hair removing creams are believed to cause skin discolouration. Shaving thickens and hardens the hair growth. Waxing is the best option. But it is better to have it done at a good beauty salon. Or you can try an epilator. It is a small gadget for hair removal. Follow the directions on the label. When using an epilator there is some pain initially that lessens with time.
